Alnwick’s latest new development is proving to be so popular with local buyers that several have already reserved their dream home off-plan. With construction work not expected to be completed until next Spring and roof trusses only just being installed, buyers are already reserving key plots at the Weavers’ Court development in Alnwick.
The sharp increase in reservations follows the success of an open day, which was held in June by Isos Housing, which is developing the new scheme. During the open day, four people reserved apartments with a further 70 people expressing an interest in the development.
Located off Weavers’ Way on the south side of Alnwick, Weavers’ Court will be a state-of-the-art Extra Care housing development for people aged 55 and over. When complete, the development will include 58 one and two-bedroom apartments available to buy through shared ownership or to rent from Isos Housing. It will boast a range of shared facilities for residents to enjoy including a convenience shop, communal lounge, restaurant, coffee shop and hair salon.
Extra Care schemes like Weavers’ Court are designed to promote independence in older and vulnerable people, while enabling those with chronic and other health conditions to live in the community, preventing admissions to residential care.
Each of the spacious, modern, one and two bedroom apartments will include a large lounge/diner, kitchen and storage space as well as a private terrace or balcony. A scheme manager, employed by Isos Housing, will oversee the scheme’s day-to-day running, with care provision available on site if needed.
Michael Farr, executive director of development and property at Isos Housing, said:
“There has been a lot of interest in our Weavers’ Court development from local people and it is pleasing to see that buyers, who are eligible and in a position to do so, are already reserving apartments that are available to buy through our shared ownership scheme.
Development work is progressing well and local people visiting the site can now see the scale of the development. The plans and sales literature are available for buyers to read more about Weavers’ Court but they can now see that things are happening on site, which is giving them the confidence to make a commitment.
Our open day proved to be very successful and we hope to organise another one in town in October. In addition to this, we are expecting to open a sales cabin on site this month and our show flat should be completed around Christmas time.
Estate agent, Your Move Alnwick at Bondgate Within can help customers with any enquiries they may have about the development, discuss the options available to them, view floor plans and pick up a sales brochure.”
