There was plenty of fun in the sun at our first ever community fun day at Weavers’ Court in Alnwick.
Residents from our new Extra Care scheme and the local community came out to enjoy the variety of activities on offer.
Children were kept entertained with face painting, arts and crafts, a bouncy castle, crazy creatures, balloon modelling, a magic act, delicious ice cream, and a ride on an emergency blood responder motorbike. And what fun would a fun day be without a visit from Speedy the Tortoise!
The event was organised by Weavers’ Court scheme manager David Curran and activities co-ordinator Liz Pratt working with Lewis Rimington, our localism officer. A variety of other community organisations also chipped in to help and provide information, with stalls run by Healthwatch Northumberland, Alzheimer’s Society, Action on Hearing Loss, Northumbria Police, Hobberlaw Plants, and many more.
There was also a stall overflowing with woolly wonders from the Extra Care scheme’s resident knitting group!
Here are a few photos from the day. And as summer gives way to autumn, the countdown to the Christmas community fun day begins!
